Frances Santin switched over to the 800 after a successful hurdle career at Cal State Northridge. Santin was ranked in the U.S. in the 400 hurdles and has a personal best of 56.48.Santin competed and participated at the 2000 Olympic Trials and made it to the Semi-Final round. The following year, Santin Placed 4th at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon and gained a #8 ranking for the 2001-2002 season. In 2002, Santin was off to a great start and had a seasonal best of 56.87 in the 400 hurdles before injuring herself at the Conference Championships. Suffered a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus and sidelined the rest of her season. Bounced back from injury and qualified for the NCAA and USA Outdoor Championships and qualified up to the semi-finals in 2003. Began training with the Santa Monica Track Club in the fall of 2003 and quickly became one of America's rising middle distance stars. After working with Joe Douglas, she dropped five seconds off her personal best and almost dipped under the 2:00 minute barrier. Santin has run a personal best of 200.84 in Portland Oregon where she competed at the Adidas Track Classic. Santin also posted a 2:00.90 in Huesden, Belgium after her fifth place finish at the Olympic Trials. Santin continues running strong under the guidance of track coach legend Joe Douglas, and has her focus set on the World Championships in Helsinki, Finland in the summer of 2005.
